(1) Since part of GLAM's definition is that it uses Pop Cultural signifiers to do the work of gender subversion, it is impossible that GLAM could ever function as part of an institutional structure. (2) The very purpose of GLAM is to debunk institutions and to twist and break codes of behavior. (3) However we choose to perform GLAM now is to some degree arbitrary; we are only choosing from the array of signifiers which are currently available. What can be GLAM is constantly changing along with history and Pop Culture. (4) GLAM will always be subversive and can never become dogmatic because its method is one of individual choice in a changing world.
