GLAM is subversive.

(1) GLAM uses the symbols that Pop Culture creates for the expression of the desires that Pop Culture does not anticipate, endorse, or provide space for. (2) The very expression of these desires in a public way is subversive. Their expression using elements from the language of Pop Culture, but for the empowerment of those outside of it, is revolutionary. (3) The desire, for instance, to be a sexually powerful woman who fucks other women is excluded from the repertoire of personae Pop Culture provides, except in a violent, negative, and undesireable form. In order to communicate this desire in a sexy, positive and self-respectful way, I can steal and reconstruct the language within which our culture defines desire (the use, for instance, of eyeliner, patent leather heels, minidresses, etc.) and redirect their appeal to serve my own purposes. (4) This is only one example. GLAM can modify any set of fashion-cultural rules for the subversive purposes of any individual (see Article I, Sections 6 and 7).
